I’ve been talking about surf music the whole day, the whole week and mounth, so I had an idea, the best singer of the new surf music style deserve a special post here, on my tumblr and also on my wordpress. I am talking about Jack Johnson.

The first song that I heard by Jack Johnson was “Times Like These” – And I really think that’s the best example of this new style, it’s soft, acoustic guitar and there’s a lot of feeling on the lyrics, basically isn’t just a simple harmony between the chords and lyrics, there’s a real mean in the whole context. The first album of Jack has some epic songs, like “Flake”, “Bubble Toes”. But in the album On and On, Jack made a huge step in his career, with songs like “Taylor”, “Times Like These”, “The Horizon Has Been Defeated”, “Gone”, “Wasting Time”, “Dreams Be Dreams” and “Rodeo Clowns”.

I already said that, a lot of times Jack Johnson is my favorite singer, with no doubt but there’s more about him that I really appreciate, he’s also a surferanother awesome is he was born in Hawaii and still living there, ok, we’re talking about the paradise but with sucess a lot people forget about the essence of life, wich means love, love and love. In 2002 Jack created his own record business, the Brushfire Records, with a special function, represent some surf music singers and also support some surf movies, helping with the soundtrack and directing some of them. In the Brushfire we have artists like Zach Gill, a friend of Jack Johnson from a long time, Mason Jennings, G. Love.

Jack is starting a new tour, he’s going to perform in Byron Bay here in Australia, unfortunatelly I’m not living in Byron so I’ll lost two concerts in my old home. If you want more informations, take a look in Jack Johnson (Official Website).

He isn’t just a Jack Johnson’s friend, he’s another surf music talent, I mean he isn’t the perfect type of surf music style but he’s a great instrumentalist and singer but he has something more inspiring, the power of make people get crazy with piano solos, he’s just a insane pianist. He has a band called ALO and he also have a solo career. I listen Zach since 2006 but I just had a chance to post about him when I heard again a perfect song called: “Watch them grow” it’s a very emotional song ‘cuz he talks about the moments of children, the birth, the first time, growth and time to go to adult life. He’s a comedian too, he makes some funny videos about weird songs like “Narwhal, the unicor of the sea”, what else can I say ? Nothing, he’s a awesome singer, you should take a look in some songs by him and the band, mahalo nui loa everybody.

I’m a real surf lover and also a surf music fan. I can’t say a lot of things about the style, it’s a simple style without beats, special voices, second voices, is just a guitar and nice lyrics. We have some differents surf music styles, the rock and the acoustic one. I’m a acoustic fan but doesn’t mean that I don’t like the rock style. people make confusion with the acoustic style, we have the “urban style” and the surf style, I’m a fan of both of them. The urban style has a leader called John Mayer, he’s the best with a acoustic guitar playing with guitar and some beats – that’s the big difference between the urban and the surf, the beats, new arrangements with the beats.

The list of awesome surf musicians: Jack Johnson, Tristan Prettyman, Jason Mraz, The Beautiful Girls, Donavon Frankenreiter, Zach Gill, A.L.O, Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls singer).
